Dr. Md. Zafar Mahfooz Nomani is a highly accomplished professor at the Department of Law at Aligarh Muslim University in India, with over 28 years of experience in teaching and research. He is a leading expert in the fields of environmental law, intellectual property law, and corporate law, having published 12 books and more than 198 research papers on these topics.
His contributions to the field have been recognized with numerous awards, including the prestigious National Award for Research in Environmental Law from the International Association of Educators for World Peace in Geneva and the Indian Institute of Ecology and Environment. Dr. Nomani has played a key role in the development of laws in India, and his recommendations on a major research project on the socio-economic impact of special economic zones (SEZs) have been reflected in the Land Acquisition and Compensation Law of 2013-14. He is currently working on a project about the role of international biodiversity law in developing access and benefit sharing regimes in India. In addition, he has been involved in several World Bank projects on environmental management in India and is a lifelong member of the Global Alliance for Justice Education in Tennessee and an associate member of the International Society for Development and Sustainability in Japan. As the chairman of the advisory board for our organization, Dr. Nomani brings a wealth of knowledge, expertise, and experience to the table. His contributions are invaluable as we work towards our mission of preserving and rehabilitating the natural environment.
Anushka Kajbaje is a highly accomplished and respected environmental management professional with over 22 years of experience in the field. She is currently a faculty member for M.Arch Sustainable Architecture and M.Ha in Biomedical waste management, at the Bharti Vidyapeeth Institute of Environmental Education and Research (BVIIER). In this role, Anushka is responsible for educating the next generation of environmental leaders and advancing the understanding of sustainable practices.
In addition to her work at BVIIER, Anushka is also a lead auditor for green campus and energy audits for educational institutions and industrial sectors, and has collaborated with foundations like Jalmitra and Paani to develop watersheds in rural areas. In recognition of her long-term commitment and continuous efforts in Pune, Anushka received the prestigious Swachh Puraskar in 2019-2020. She is a member of the technical review committee in the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change (MoEFCC) for hazardous and other waste, and has a particular interest in waste management systems. Anushka has also conducted training programs for organizations like Paryavarana Sanrakshan Gatividhi (PSG) and schools. We are proud to have Anushka Kajbaje as the vice chairperson of our organisation and a valuable member of our advisory board.
Purusottam is a highly qualified environmental scientist, having completed his M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Technology in 2019. He is currently a project fellow at the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) and has over 3 years of experience as a certified NABL analyst. Purusottam’s primary focus is on wastewater management and treatment technologies, and he has worked in field monitoring and conducted physio-chemical analyses of samples collected from portable water, wastewater, effluent treatment plants (ETPs), and sewage treatment plants (STPs).
His major research areas include advanced oxidation processes (AOPs), the synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles for wastewater treatment, and biochar synthesis and processing. Purusottam has published numerous articles on advanced nanomaterials, phytoremediation, the fate of SARS-CoV-2 in water environments and sewage, and wastewater-based epidemiology (WBE). His aim is to upgrade existing wastewater treatment facilities in advanced and technologically feasible ways. We are pleased to have Purusottam as a member of our advisory board.
Dhruvi is a highly qualified professional with a background in environmental science and technology. She is currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration degree at Columbia University in the United States, and previously earned her M.Sc. in Environmental Science and Technology from the Bharti Vidyapeeth Institute of Environmental Education and Research (BVIIER).
Dhruvi has worked as a researcher on indoor air and noise pollution monitoring and management at the CSIR-National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) in Mumbai, and as an environmental educator for water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in government schools with the Centre for Environment Education (CEE) in Ahmedabad.
She is skilled in environmental compliance and monitoring, urban environment management, and sustainable education pedagogy, and currently serves as a teaching assistant at the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Columbia University. In this role, she helps students explore sustainable ways of utilizing earth resources. Dhruvi is also interested in developing cross-sector partnerships to efficiently implement environmental policies, and we are pleased to have her as a member of our advisory board.
Dev Patel is a highly accomplished professional with a strong background in environmental science and technology and a wealth of experience in sustainable business practices, environmental, social, and governance (ESG), corporate social responsibility consulting, and environmental marketing. He has worked with leading companies in a range of industries, including Suzlon Energy, Dr Reddy’s, and BHEL-GE Gas Turbine Services Pvt Ltd, and is dedicated to helping businesses adopt sustainable practices in order to create a better future for the next generation.
In addition to his expertise in these areas, Patel is also an expert in fundraising, with a proven track record of securing significant financial support for causes he is passionate about. We are fortunate to have Dev Patel as a member of our advisory board and are confident that his skills and experience will be invaluable in helping our organisation achieve its goals.
